Internship
Basic information on the internship module can be found in the BA 90 LP module handbook. In addition, here are some answers to frequently asked questions:
The person responsible for internships at the Department of Anthropology (internship supervisor) does not arrange internships; these must be organized by the students themselves. Internships can be carried out during the semester as well as during the lecture-free period. The intended internship should be discussed in advance with the internship supervisor to ensure that it is in line with the subject-related objectives of the anthropology degree program before the internship begins. For this purpose, a brief description of the desired internship position should be sent to the following e-mail address: praktikum@ethnologie.uni.halle.de
After completion of the internship, a certificate of internship (or internship certificate) is required for crediting the internship module, which is issued and signed by the organization providing the internship at the end of the internship. This certificate must state the duration of the internship (at least 120 hours working time). It must also contain a brief description of the intern's activities.
The internship does not have to be completed within three consecutive weeks (typically 3 weeks with 5 working days of 8 hours each). The internship can also be completed over a longer period of time with fewer hours per week (e.g. two days per week with 4 working hours each over 15 weeks), as long as the minimum total of 120 hours is achieved.
In principle, it is also possible to have a long internship credited for two subjects. For example, if 120 hours of work placement are also required in the other subject, a total of 240 hours of work placement could be credited in both subjects. The requirements of the other subject regarding content, duration and in particular the type of crediting (long internship for two subjects) must be checked independently by the students. Crediting the same hours of work in two subjects is not permitted! Therefore, at least the required number of hours per subject must be achieved for crediting in two subjects.
It is not possible to register the internship module in the Löwenportal. As soon as the internship report (see the format requirements) and the internship certificate have been received by the person responsible for the internship, the report will be checked and, if all requirements are met, the module will be booked directly at the examination office by the responsible colleague at the Department of Anthropology.
The internship report and the internship certificate can be submitted digitally (as a scan if necessary). An e-mail to: praktikum@ethnologie.uni-halle.de is therefore sufficient for submission.
