Short Biography

Philipp Baum is a doctoral candidate and research assistant at the Department of Anthropology at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

He studied sociology and ethnology at the University of Bremen and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. In his bachelor's thesis, he examined ideas of masculinity in Leipzig house projects. As a student assistant at ZIRS, he researched the protests of citizens' initiatives against landfills. As part of the Platform for Collaborative and Experimental Ethnography (PECE) initiated by Kim Fortun, he published an article on the future of chemical waste at the Schkopau site. As part of his master's thesis, he ethnographically accompanied a protest group against the corona measures in summer 2021 and analyzed the construction of counter-knowledge within the protests.

Philipp Baum has been a research assistant at the chair of Prof. Dr. Olaf Zenker since 2024.
